Nottingham Forest's poor goalscoring run continued as wasteful finishing contributed to a 2-0 defeat at Brentford – and they were booed off by their own angry fans.
"What the f******* hell was that?" sang the away fans as Brentford did not need to be particularly good to overcome Oliver Glasner's side and keep track with the Champions League places.
That anger was shared by Glasner himself in his post-match press conference, the head coach acknowledging things must change or Forest will be searching for their sixth manager since the start of last season.
"We have to accept it's not good enough," said the Austrian. "That's why it's for me, now time to change things."
Asked what those things are, Glasner replied: "Everywhere. And I feel I could see a few things from day No 1. I feel now that maybe I made too many compromises in some stuff. It's a clear way, I will tell what we want to do, what we have to do. And if the players buy in, we can have a turnaround. If not, the sixth manager will come in."
Nikola Milenkovic's own goal after good work from Dango Ouattara gave the Bees the lead - but there were no shots on target until the 76th minute, when Igor Thiago doubled the lead via a deflected strike.
That was partly due to Forest's poor finishing. They had two golden chances to score, one in each half: James McAtee curled wide from inside the box after being given time and space to get there, before half-time substitute Ryan Yates headed over from four yards out.
Forest remain the lowest scorers in the Premier League this season with only six so far - and they wasted 14 shots before finally getting one on target in the 79th minute, a pea roller from McAtee that Caoimhin Kelleher gratefully collected.
Scoring and creating meaningful chances remains a concern for Glasner's Forest, who remain in the bottom three.
4: CHANCE! Mamadou Sangare volleys wide for Brentford after a corner was cleared to his path.
20: ANOTHER! Thiago is played into a good area but drags a shot wide of goal.
24: HUGE CHANCE! McAtee goes on a solo run into the Brentford penalty area but curls wide from inside the box.
30: GOAL! Ouattara is released from Caoimhin Kelleher's long-range ball and his cross is diverted into the box by Milenkovic.
38: OFF THE BAR! Mathias Jensen curls a free-kick which cannons off the top of the crossbar.
54: BIG MISS! Morgan Gibbs-White crosses for Yates who cannot convert from four yards out.
76: GOAL! Thiago makes it 2-0 after being set up by substitute Jaidon Anthony.
Does Glasner blame players for performance?
Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner:
"No, they tried again. You can't say they had a lack of effort. But again, you feel you're controlling the game, you create a few good situations, and all of a sudden they're 1-0 down. It was the fourth goal we conceded from a long ball from a goalkeeper, so it's lack of awareness losing the duel, and we're 1-0 down.
"Then the players tried and tried. I think in the first 20 minutes in the second half, we just played in their half. Then I could see they're getting nervous. We're crossing and crossing and this and this.
"But again, if you always make some mistakes, or the same mistakes in defence that you've done, if in too many games you're not able to convert the chances you have, then we have to admit right now it's not good enough.
"For me, I don't want to talk about statistics and about whatever, because the reality is we didn't score a goal, we conceded two, we had enough set pieces, we didn't score again from a set piece, and it's not to blame. I take responsibility for everything. That's why I said, and I always take responsibility for the things I decided.
"I decided everything. It's just one person to blame, and that's me. That's why I say I can't and I won't continue in the same way as Oliver Glasner. I will change things. That's so clear for me, because otherwise, again, it's the same. You asked the fifth manager, I think you're asking the same question [that you gave to the other four].
"I think the performances are better than the ones [the other four] have been, but it's the same. And if things won't change, you will ask the sixth [manager to come in]."
Andrews: That was Brentford's best win of the season
Brentford head coach Keith Andrews:
"It's probably our best win of the season because you've got to show different traits to some of the other games.
"I think the schedule this week, for a start, hasn't been favourable to us. That's two cup rounds in a row where we've had the most condensed week out of anybody.
"Two difficult away trips and we didn't get the result we wanted to [against Sunderland], so there's that element to it as well.
"And then the opposition and how they play, how they try to set up and condense the pitch. It's pragmatic at times, they test you in different ways. They've got some very talented players that you have to keep quiet and you have to keep your concentration and focus.
"There was also some smart play today and leadership on show from our players that I really, really liked. On so many levels, I think it's a brilliant win."
