Nico Carrillo will make his ONE Championship kickboxing debut against Zhou Jiaqiang on August 15, live on Sky Sports.
Scottish star Carrillo, a devastating force in Muay Thai, is taking on new ONE signing Zhou Jiaqiang in a featherweight kickboxing bout on ONE Fight Night 46 at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
A hugely powerful striker, Carrillo, from Glasgow, is known as the "King of the North".
After establishing himself as one of the finest Muay Thai athletes on the continent, Carrillo embarked on a stunning run that left a trail of destruction through the UK and Europe. That run included winning the WBC Muay Thai European Championship.
The 11-fight winning streak was enough to catch ONE Championship's attention, and Carrillo's dominance continued on the proving grounds of ONE Friday Fights. His devastating power was on show during a pair of crushing knockout wins over Furkan Karabag and Muangthai PK Saenchai.
Those victories earned the Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy representative a coveted $100,000 contract to the world's largest martial arts organisation.
Eventually, the Scot earned a shot at the ONE Interim bantamweight Muay Thai world champion in January 2025, but he suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Nabil Anane. However, Carrillo took away some valuable lessons and moved up a division to compete in his natural weight class.
That decision was a game-changer. The Glasgow native defeated the legendary Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and American standout Luke Lessei to earn his crack at the ONE Interim featherweight Muay Thai world title in February 2025.
Over the course of five rounds, he beat Shadow Singha Mawynn to finally strike world title gold and fulfill his dream.
