Leeds took another huge step towards Premier League survival with a 3-0 victory that all but confirmed opponents Wolves' relegation from the top flight.

After winning away to Manchester United on Monday night, goals from James Justin, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave Leeds back-to-back league victories for the first time this season to move Daniel Farke's side nine points clear of 18th placed Tottenham.

Spurs can officially send Wolves down by beating Brighton live on Sky Sports from 5.30pm, but Rob Edwards' side are really just awaiting mathematical confirmation of the drop, as they now trail West Ham by15 points with only five games remaining, and have a goal-difference deficit of 20 to the Hammers.

After Calvert-Lewin missed a couple of big early chances to put Leeds ahead, Justin opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a stunning overhead kick from six yards out after Ethan Ampadu had been denied by Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley from even closer range.

Player ratings:

Leeds: Darlow (8), Justin (8), Struijk (7), Bijol (7), Gudmundsson (7), Ampadu (8), Tanaka (7), Bogle (7), Aaronson (8), Okafor (8), Calvert-Lewin (7).

Subs: Gnonto (7), Gruev (6), Longstaff, Nmecha, Rodon (n/a).

Wolves: Bentley (6), S Bueno(5), Krejci (6), T Gomes (5), Tchatchoua (5), Andre (5), J Gomes (5), H Bueno (5), Bellegarde (5), A Gomes (5), Armstrong (6)

Subs: Mane (7), Lima (5), R Gomes (5), Hwang (5)

Player of the Match: Noah Okafor

The Elland Road crowd had to wait just 86 seconds for another goal, with the in-form Okafor converting Brenden Aaronson's inch-perfect cross at the back post to score his fifth goal in as many Premier League appearances.

Wolves barely threatened in the first half, with their best moment coming when defender Ladislav Krejci's header was blocked by Pascal Struijk before being cleared away by Calvert-Lewin.

The visitors offered more after the break, with another Krejci header forcing a stunning save from Karl Darlow, before substitute Rodrigo Gomes shot wide when through on goal.

Wolves did get the ball in the net but Adam Armstrong's lovely chipped finish was ruled out for offside, with VAR confirming he had strayed marginally beyond the last defender.

Team news:

  • Leeds were unchanged from their huge victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, with the only alteration to their matchday squad being Joe Rodon's return to the bench.
  • Wolves made two changes from their heavy defeat to West Ham with goalkeeper Dan Bentley and defender Toti Gomes starting.

Any remaining Leeds nerves were dispelled in stoppage time when Calvert-Lewin converted a penalty he had won himself after being fouled by Hugo Bueno following a nicely weighted through ball from substitute Wilfried Gnonto.

The victory concludes an enormous week for Leeds that has gone a long way to ensuring their Premier League status is preserved for another season.

Now on 39 points in 15th place with five games remaining - as well as being nine points clear of Tottenham, Leeds are six points ahead of Nottingham Forest and seven clear of West Ham, who play on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

What the managers said...

Leeds boss Daniel Farke:

"My attitude is that nothing is achieved, nothing is done yet. To be there with 39 points, with five game-days to go, is a fantastic position to be in, but the feeling is still that we probably need to win one, perhaps even a few more points.

"And for that, we will not allow ourselves to take our foot off the gas. We will stay focused, concentrated and want to win this one (point), or perhaps even a few more points as soon as possible, to have it also mathematically done.

"We don't want to travel on the last game-day into a nervy game anyhow, when you have to deliver a result in difficult away games. So we'll try to win these points that we need as soon as possible."

No side has been demoted from the top flight on 39 points since the 2016-17 season, but Leeds must play at relegation rivals Tottenham and West Ham, on the final day, in their last five matches.

"I would say during a normal season 39 points are probably enough, but we have a special season where teams like Tottenham, which is ridiculous, and Nottingham Forest, who are playing in Europe, are trying to chase us.

"We have also a bit of a special situation where we play Tottenham and West Ham and if you lose such a game, it means they would win three points. So this makes the situation a bit special."

Wolves boss Rob Edwards:

"I completely understand the frustration and accept that. The fans should be angry and I'm never going to say anything other than that.

"They travel everywhere. They support the team and they have the right to vent their frustration and show their anger again.

"So absolutely no problem with me. I'm as angry as they are and disappointed.

"It's obviously been a long time coming and our situation has been difficult for all of this season, and even seasons before, as we know and we've spoken about.

"So all I can do is promise them that we're working extremely hard to make sure that we're not feeling like this again.

"I actually think it's quite apt that we're here at Leeds at the moment. They have been through their difficulties as well, and fairly recently.

"But the way they've responded as a football club, you can see everybody now is right behind it. In the Cup semi-final, performing very well in the league as well.

"So it can be done. We can turn things around, and we're working really hard to do that."

In-form Okafor key to Leeds survival

Sky Sports' Rich Morgan:

Not too many people would have had Noah Okafor as being key to Leeds United's recent upturn in form that has seen Daniel Farke's side move well clear of the drop zone, but the Swiss striker is in many ways symbolic of the club's unexpectedly impressive campaign.

Signed from AC Milan in August, the 25-year-old took his time to settle in his new surroundings, often being used as an impact sub by Farke, before hitting a rich vein of form of late to help move his new team away from danger.

In the German's new 3-5-2 formation, which he crucially switched to in a 3-2 loss at Man City at the end of November, Okafor plays just off No 9 Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the duo dovetailing nicely in attack.

So much so that after a run of 16 consecutive league appearances without either a goal or an assist between October 2025 and January 2026, Okafor has now been involved in six goals across his last five appearances, netting five times, including both a brace in the 2-1 win at Man Utd on Monday Night Football, followed by another in the 3-0 victory over Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday.

In fact, only United's Bruno Fernandes, with 10, has been involved since the beginning of February.
