Kieran Trippier is considering ripping up his contract with Wolves following the sacking of Rob Edwards.

The 35-year-old is angry and feels betrayed by Wolves. Edwards being in charge was key to his decision to join the club last week.

Trippier was shocked to learn the news of Edwards' sacking on Thursday morning and was told by someone outside the club, just two days after he was paraded as Wolves' marquee summer signing.

We also understand that Edwards himself found out the news from a family member, and not the club.

Trippier cancelled a holiday to undergo a medical and sign for Wolves this week.

Edwards was desperate to sign the defender and striker Raul Jimenez. Trippier chose Wolves over a number of other clubs.

The defender has essentially signed a pre-contract so joins Wolves on July 1, when his contract at Newcastle ends.

As a result he's currently considering his options.

Edwards was surprisingly dismissed this week, with news about his exit appearing on social media late on Wednesday night.

Cesar Peixoto, currently in charge of Portuguese club Gil Vicente, is set to be appointed as the new Wolves head coach.

Sky Sports News has been told Edwards and his coaching staff were shocked to hear the news of their sacking late on Wednesday night and are angry with the way it was conveyed to them.

They had been preparing for next season in the Championship as usual, excited by the recent signings of Trippier and Jimenez.

Sky Sports News has contacted Wolves for a response.
